Best Books of 2016

As we prepare to say farewell to 2016, we naturally start thinking about the books we’ve read and enjoyed during the past year. With this in mind, we’ve prepared our own library list of “Best Fiction Books of 2016.” Our list not only shows the favorites of Riverdale Library patrons, but also some top picks by Publishers Weekly and Amazon.com editors. Stop by our Reader’s Advisory Center, where copies of the list are available, and see if your personal favorite made the list – and be prepared to encounter some new potential favorites!

Relax with a New Audiobook

As much as we enjoy them, the holidays will be over before we know it and winter will settle in with us for a while. Think about beating those cold-weather doldrums by settling in with a brand-new audiobook! Here are some of our latest selections: Born to Run, by Bruce Springsteen (autobiography); Chaos, by Patricia Cornwell; Moonglow, by Michael Chabon; Sassy Saturdays, by Judith Keim; and The Whole Town's Talking, by Fannie Flagg.

Try Something New!

Avid readers are always looking for something new to read, but most of us tend to stay within our favorite types of fiction – thrillers, historical fiction, or romances, to name just a few. But why not “read outside the box” and try something different? Our new fiction section offers some great opportunities to do just that. Consider one (or more) of these new fiction titles: Babylon's Ashes, by James S. A. Corey (science fiction); Blood Vow, by J. R. Ward (paranormal fiction); The Fate of the Tearling, by Erika Johansen (fantasy fiction); Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis, by Anne Rice (paranormal fiction); and Star Wars, Catalyst: a Rogue One Novel, by James Luceno (science fiction).
